I was quite taken aback after reading Senator L. Scott Frantz's comments claiming social justice as a fundamentally un-American policy. Franklin D. Roosevelt once stated that we as Americans "must and shall choose the path of social justice...the path of faith, the path of hope and the path of love toward our fellow man.” This is an attitude I believe many Greenwich residents embody through their support of civic-minded organizations such as Neighbor-to-Neighbor, Junior League, Kids in Crisis, and the United Way. It would be unfortunate if we are to be represented by a senator willing to brand us "un-American" for fulfilling our civic duties and giving back to our community.
