To the Editor:
I was dismayed to read about Lee Whitnum’s comments during the
Democratic debate on Friday night during which she said that Chris
Murphy's acceptance of political contributions from the American
Israel Public Affairs Committee made him a "whore" for Israel.
Regardless of your stance on political contributions, this remark
personal beliefs. I am a firm believer that there is a fine line
between the First Amendment and unprotected speech, and this remark
crossed the line.
While I do not know Ms. Whitnum personally, I hope
that Democrats and Republicans alike know that her views are not those
of the Greenwich Democratic Party at large.
