Alewives Keeping Me Awake At Night - Part 2

Apparently last Sunday's rain had the effect of attracting even more fish into the pond, via the fish ladder...

I thought they would have ceased their persistently peppy procreation by this date, based on past years' cycles, but noooo, they're still really busy — so busy that they hardly to seem to care at all what's going on around them. Just check out how close I got to them with my cheap video camera on Saturday (see attached video).

Apparently the heavy rains last Sunday had the effect of attracting even more fish into the pond, via the fish ladder — and the multitudes are frantically trying to find their way up every stream, inlet and trickle of water entering the pond. So what I was seeing (and hearing) last week was just a prelude to what was to come.

The attached videos (which I admit aren't very exciting), show the activity in the inlet adjacent to where I live on the pond. What's really remarkable is how active these fish are at night. They never tire!
