109 Motorists Cited in Greenwich Click It or Ticket Campaign

The driver safety checks will continue with sobriety checkpoints Friday night through Memorial Day.


The start of the Greenwich Police 'Click It or Ticket' seatbelt safety campaign nabbed more than 100 drivers.

Greenwich Police worked with police from Connecticut and New York State for the border enforcement campaign on Monday evening, kicking off several safety campaigns including driving while intoxicated checkpoints during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

In the three-hour seatbelt safety campaign May 19, between 6 and 9 p.m. on the Greenwich—New York borders, 65 drivers were ticketed for not wearing seatbelts, according to Greenwich Police. Forty-four drivers were cited for other offenses including talking on a cell phone and texting while driving.

As a reminder, during the Memorial Day weekend there will also will be several sobriety checkpoints in town, in conjunction with the seatbelt checks, through Memorial Day, May 26. On Friday, May 23, checkpoints will be set up on Railroad Avenue, Delavan Avenue, Greenwich Avenue, Arch Street and Route 1.
