13-Year-Old Greenwich Boy Charged in Sexual Assault

Greenwich Police release few details of incident.

A 13-year-old Greenwich boy was arrested on a sexual assault charge in connection with an incident reported a week ago.

The unidentified teen was arrested May 17 on a fourth-degree sexual assault charge stemming from an incident in Riverside reported May 11 to Greenwich Police. Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said he would not release details of the incident including the age or sex of the victim.

According to Connecticut General Statutes, among the circumstances surrounding fourth-degree sexual assault are: the victm is under 15  years of age; mentally defective or mentally incapacitated to the extent that such other person is unable to consent to such sexual contact; or physically helpless.

The boy also was charged with risk of injury to a minor.

The suspect was released in the custody of his parents and scheduled to appear May 22 in the Juvenile Matters division of state Superior Court in Stamford.
