and the Marshal are investigating 2 early morning arsons which were set at a home under construction in the Riverside section of town.
According to Greenwich Police Lt. Kraig Gray, a neighbor of the 63 Winthrop Dr. home called 911 to report the first fire about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 22. "It is a framed out house in the early stages of construction ... there was no one there, no one injured," Gray said.
"Fire Marshal Jim Macdonald determined it was an incendiary fire—someone ignited it. It is under investigation," Gray said.
About 24 hours later, "a patrol officer being watchful in the neighborhood given the circumstances, saw flames and called in the fire department," Gray said of the second fire on Aug. 23. The fire was contained to the front door area of the structure.
Gray said he would not comment on the type of accelerant used to set the blazes. He also could not provide a dollar estimate on the amount of damage caused.
"We're in the very early stages of the investigation; there are no arrests at this time," Gray added.
