2 Greenwich Drivers Face DWI Charges


Two motorists in Greenwich face driving while intoxicated charges following two separate incidents — one involving a driving found asleep behind the wheel of a car, the other was a three-car crash, according to Greenwich Police.

Harley W. Bissett, 72, of 325 Sylvan Knoll Rd., Stamford, was charged with driving while intoxicated, following too close and unsafe backing after a three-car accident at 12:20 p.m. July 19 on West Putnam Avenue, according to a police report.

Bissett had an odor of alcohol on his breath and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report which did not indicate whether anyone was injured in the crash. Bissett posted a $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Aug. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

About 11:15 p.m. on July 19, police investigated a report of a driver passed out behind the wheel of running motor vehicle on Davis Avenue. Officers say they found Jose M. Tineo, 29, of 103 Wilbur Peck Ct., Greenwich, inside the car. He had red, glassy eyes, the odor of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, according to a police report.

Tineo was charged with driving while intoxicated. He posted a $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Aug. 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
