2 Old Greenwich Homes Burglarized

Greenwich Police are investigating the burglary of two Old Greenwich homes during which jewelry was taken.

According to Lt. Robert Berry, residents of a Nimitz Place home returned home from vacation Aug. 18 to find the house had been burglarized. Thieves possibly made entry through a window. A quantity of jewelry was reported missing and the residents are continuing to compile a list of missing items for investigators, Berry said.

While officers were investigating the Nimitz Place break-in, residents of a Tomac Avenue home called police just before 9 p.m. Aug. 18 to report their home had been burglarized, according to police.

"The residents were gone only a few hours. Entry was apparently through a window," Berry said. Police are waiting for a list of all the missing jewelry and their value.

"This is an opportunity to remind residents to make sure they take of things like newspapers ... that they don't pile up and make the home look vacant," Berry said.
