3 Drivers Charged by Greenwich Police

Police investigating a single-car crash in Cos Cob Friday night arrested a Cos Cob man on a drunk driving charge.

According to a Greenwich Police report, officers were sent to investigate the crash near Sinawoy Road and East Putnam Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Sept. 16. The driver told police, "he was coming home from a bar in Fairfield and couldn't explain why he was involved in a car accident," according to the report.

The driver, identified as James J. Finn, 49, of 17 Tremont St., Cos Cob, also told police "he had several glasses of wine." Finn refused to take field sobriety tests or provide urine samples to test his blood alcohol level, according to the report.

He was charged with driving under the influence and unsafe movement. He posted $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Sept. 30 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police arrested a town woman on a driving under the influence charge after they say they found her asleep in her car that was stopped in the middle Stanwich Road, near Orchard Street shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 17.

Julie F. Blois, 36, of 17 Tomney Rd., Greenwich, was charged after police found she had "red, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and had a strong odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages emanating from her person and breath," according to a police report. She reportedly failed field sobriety tests.

Blois also was charged with failure to carry an operator's license. She posted a $245 bond and was scheduled to appear Oct. 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich driver was arrested following a hit-and-run incident during which two cars parked on Pemberwick Road were hit.

According to Greenwich Police, a witness reported a driver unsafely passed the two parked cars, hitting them and causing minor damage and fled the scene shortly before 8:30 a.m. Sept. 14. The witness provided a license plate number, police said. Police said the driver, identified as Kevin J. Maguire, 50, of 86 Lower Cross Rd., Greenwich, returned to the accident scene after being contacted by police.

He was charged with improper passing and evading responsibility. Police also found that Norwalk Police held an arrest warrant for Maguire on charges of failure to appear in court and failure to respond to a summons, stemming from a traffic citation issued by Norwalk Police in 2009.

Maguire posted $2,500 bond and was scheduled to Sept. 21 in state Superior Court in Norwalk for the Norwalk charges. He was scheduled to appear Sept. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford on the Greenwich charges.
