Accomplice Caught in Attempted Theft at Downtown Store

A woman has been arrested on a conspiracy to commit larceny in connection with the theft of an estimated $15,000 in merchandise from a Greenwich Avenue gift shop.

Danielle N. Pereira, 21, o f 195 Plains Rd., Walden, NY, was arrested at 5:21 p.m. May 27, on a charge of conspiracy to commit 1st-degree larceny. According to a Greenwich Police report, employees of the Hoagland’s of Greenwich shop spotted a woman hiding merchandise in a bag. The woman fled the 175 Greenwich Ave. store when employees confronted her. Police said the suspect was found in the store and identified by employees as the person who acted as a lookout and distracted employees.

About $15,000 of merchandise was missing and another $15,000 of merchandise was recovered, according to the report.

Pereira was held in lieu of $15,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich police arrested a town man on a charge he was a fugitive from justice after receiving a tip he was at the Greenwich Hospital emergency room.

Officers from the department’s narcotics received the tip May 26 at 9:15 p.m. and were able to execute an arrest warrant issued May 25 by the Westchester County Court. According to the Greenwich Police report, Kastriot Djema, 19, of 28 Columbus Ave., was named in the warrant charging him as a fugitive from justice. He is accused of fleeing the Westchester County Court House on May 25 where he was to appear on 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon charges.

Djema was held in lieu of $1 million bond and scheduled to appear Thursday in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Two men, identified by police as co-workers at New Country Volkswagen were arrested following a fight in the dealership showroom Saturday morning.

According to the police report, one man headbutted the other in the nose, causing cuts. The men, identified as Ron J. Gafni, 49, of 17 Nottingham Way, Mahopac, NY, and Christopher R. LaRose, 40, of 30 Visconti St., Norwalk, were each charged with breach of peace and released on a promise to appear June 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A California man was arrested on a variety of charges stemming from an argument with his girlfriend on Valleywood Road.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the 47-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman argued outside the home in the presence of their child. The woman had originally reported the argument took place while the couple drove along on the Connecticut Turnpike and the man threatened to throw her from the car. She was arrested on charges of falsely reporting an incident and disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear May 31 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police said there was a restraining order prohibiting the man from being in the home or threatening the woman. He was charged with violation of a restraining order, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, threatening and risk of injury to a minor. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear in court May 31.

An argument between a Belle Haven couple who live on Otter Rock Road over the weekend ended with their arrests.

The 39-year-old wife is accused of hitting her husband on the lip, pulling his shirt and scratching his face. She was charged with 3rd-degree assault and disorderly conduct. The 43-year-old husband was charged with disorderly conduct. She was released after posting $2,500; he was released on a promise to appear in court. Their court dates were May 31.

Gerald J. Fucci Jr., 43, of 23 Andrews Ave., Apt. B, Milford was arrested at 11:23 a.m. June 1 and charged with second-degree failure to appear.

He turned himself in an warrant stemming from a 2007 arrest, according to police.

Fucci was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 10 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
