Arguments Lead to Assaults and Arrests

A Cos Cob man was arrested on charges he argued with his girlfriend whose screams for help were heard by a nearby Greenwich patrolman who ended up being assaulted by the suspect.

Diego Ramior Luna, 23, of 20 Kent Pl., was arrested before 1 a.m. Aug. 19 on charges of 3rd-degree criminal mischief, interfering with a police officer, assault on a police officer and 2nd-degree breach of peace in connection with the incident that Greenwich Police said occurred outside the Barcelona restaurant, 18 W. Putnam. Ave.

According to a police report, a patrolman in the area heard a woman scream "get him away from me" before finding the couple and another man who tried to intervene on behalf of the woman. Luna is accused of of disregarding officers' orders and had to be forcibly restrained and handcuffed. He also is accused of headbutting Officer Michael Ucci who was treated and released from Greenwich Hospital for shoulder, hand and eye bruises.

Luna's bond was set at $24,000 and scheduled to appear Aug. 19 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A 54-year-old woman was arrested Sunday morning on charges she tried to strangle a family member and then threatened the victim with a kitchen knife during an argument.

Roxanne Cooper, of 14 Armstrong Ct., Greenwich, was arrested on charges of 3rd-degree strangulation, risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, threatening and 3rd-degree assault following the incident. The victim received minor injuries after being grabbed by the neck, according to a Greenwich Police report.

Cooper was released on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A motorist who Greenwich Police say was seen "traveling at a high rate of speed on the Post Road in Cos Cob," was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge early Saturday.

Jeb D. Fiorita, 37, of 415 River Rd., Greenwich, also was charged with traveling unreasonably fast shortly before 1 a.m. Aug. 20. Fiorita is accused of having glassy eyes, smelling of alcohol and failing field sobriety tests. He was released on a $250 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

An argument between a Hycliff Road resident and a person who had obtained an order of protection against the resident resulted in the resident's arrest Sunday.

Donald D. Caetano, 27, of 21 Hycliff Rd., was arrested after the victim reported a verbal dispute turned physical and some of the victim's belongings were destroyed, according to a Greenwich Police report.

Caetano was charged with violating a protective order, unlawful restraint, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and 3rd-degree assault. His bond was set at $15,000 with an Aug. 22 appearance in state Superior Court in Stamford.

An argument over an electric bill lead to the arrest of a 78-year-old Old Greenwich man.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Hugo C. Vazquez of 1465 E. Putnam Ave., was arrested on Aug. 20 following the incident which the victim was threatened and called names several times. He was charged with threatening and disorderly conduct, and released on a promise to appear Aug. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A motorist swerving in and out of traffic, apparently caught the attention of a Greenwich Police officer who ended up charging the driver with driving while intoxicated.

Fileberto Contreras-Vega, 51, of 109 Wilbur Peck Ct., Greenwich, isa accused of driving erratically on East Putnam Avenue late Sunday and having empty beer bottles in his Nissan Maxima when police stopped him, according to a police report. He also is accused of smelling of alcohol and failing sobriety tests.

Contreras-Vega was held on $250 bond and schedule to appear Sept. 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
