Arrests for Drug Possession, Destroying Property

A motorist stopped by Greenwich Police for not dimming his vehicle's high beams ended up under arrest for possession of cocaine.

According to a police report, the driver was stopped on Delavan Avenue near Mead Avenue about 1:30 a.m. March 24 after he was seen failing to dim the high beams as several cars passed him.

The driver, Jose R. Guerrero Rodriguez, 27, of 67 S. Munn Ave., East Orange, NJ, was ticketed for improper use of high beams. Because "he appeared to be nervous, he was asked if he had any weapons, drugs or explosives" in the Ford Expedition he was driving, according to the report.

Guerrero Rodriguez consented to a search of the vehicle where police said they found a small plastic bag with a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. He was charged with illegal possession and held in lieu of $250 bond. He was scheduled to appear April 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

An Old Greenwich resident surrendered to Greenwich Police who obtained an arrest warrant charging hime with first-degree criminal damage to a landlord's property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Tyler S Bates, 20, of 37 Arcadia Rd., surrenderd about 10:15 a.m. March 22. Details on the incident were not provided by police. Bates was released on a promise to appear April 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
