What started out as a gathering of some teens to watch the NCAA playoffs quickly turned into a beer bash at a home where the mother was away, according to Greenwich Police.

Police were called to the Rock Ridge home in central Greenwich by the mother who was notified of the growing party by a neighbor, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

When police went to the home about 10 p.m. April 6, "officers found 75 to 100 youths" at the home. "The owner who was away and contacted by a neighbor," called police, Gray said. "It started out as having a few friends over to watch the NCAA and more persons showed up and it kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. There was no such party authorized," Gray said.

"Officers observed numerous cans of beer in the kitchen. All of the people were under 21-years-old," according to the police report. Gray said that some of the attendees brought alcohol to the home. No one required medical treatment, Gray said.

The officers issued an infraction ticket to Annabelle Galef, 18, of 31 Rock Ridge Ave., Greenwich, for permitting minors to illegally possess liquor in a dwelling unit or on private property or failing to halt such illegal possession. Galef was described by police as the daughter of the homeowner.  Galef’s infraction ticket has an answer date of April 19.
