BMWs Targeted by Thieves, Vandals in Greenwich

Greenwich Police are investigating two separate theft and vandalism incidents, both of which involved BMWs.

According to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, a 2002 BMW SUV was reported stolen from the driveway of a West Division Street home on Oct. 26. The theft was discovered about 11 a.m. and apparently occurred during the overnight in the Byram neighborhood. It was not immediately known whether the vehicle had been locked.

Someone "ripped off the mirror" from the side of a brand new 20014 BMW parked in lot on Lafayette Court in central Greenwich sometime overnight on Oct. 25, Gray said. The damage was reported about 1:50 p.m. Oct. 26.

The investigating officer noticed "a couple of other cars in the lot" were damaged and is working to determine whether the same vandal is responsible, Gray said. An estimate of the damage was not given.
