Bus Driver Struck by Car; Teen Charged with Assaulting Elderly Woman

A 48-year-old bus driver for Connecticut Transit was seriously injured Tuesday evening when he was struck by a car while crossing East Putnam Avenue near the YWCA Greenwich.

And Greenwich Police ticketed the bus driver following the incident.

According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, the driver was westbound on East Putnam Avenue, between Park Avenue and Old Church Road, when he stopped his bus to check on another Connecticut Transit bus that was stopped in the eastbound lanes. After checking the eastbound bus, the driver attempted to return to his bus and was struck by a car at about 6:30 p.m.

The bus driver suffered multiple injuries including head cuts when he was hit and rolled up into the car windshield. He was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday.

Officers ticketed the bus driver, identified as Roger Bouzy, of 26 Crown Ave., Norwalk, for reckless use of a highway by a pedestrian. The driver of the car was not identified and was not ticketed, according to Gray.

A Norwalk motorist stopped because Greenwich Police believed the objects he had hanging in the car obstructed his view, now faces marijuana possession charges.

Johnny Garner Jr., 27, who gave an address of 34 Sunrise Hill Road, Norwalk, was arrested on possession of marijuana less than four ounces after he was stopped on Ritch Avenue about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday. He also was ticketed for obstructed view from hanging ornaments.

Garner was released on a promise to appear March 9 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A 22-year-old Greenwich motorist was arrested on a warrant at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, charging him in connection with a January motor vehicle accident.

Douglas K. Frano, who gave an address of 2 Hilltop Road, Greenwich, was charged with possession of marijuana less than four ounces, possession of marijuana with 1,500 feet of a school and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Frano also faces motor vehicle charges of evading responsibility, unsafe movement and driving while intoxicated.

He was released on a promise to appear March 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested on charges he assaulted an elderly Chestnut Street woman.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the victim was pinched on the face and bitten on an arm by the unidentified teen. The suspect was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault of a person aged 60 or older. He was issued misdemeanor summonses to appear March 8 in the juvenile division of state Superior Court in Stamford.
