Busted: Theft of Bustier Leads to Shoplifting Charge

Things weren't coming up roses for a Stamford woman Monday afternoon. Greenwich Police say that the woman is accused of buying a some clothing items at the Urban Outfitters store at 20 E. Elm St. before 1 p.m., Aug. 1 and then tried to leave after pocketing two more items - a floral bustier and a tube top - into her purse. Store employees told police a theft alarm activated when the woman tried to leave. Her shopping bag contained the items she purchased. The woman then told employees she left her cell phone in a fitting room and needed to retrieve it. As she walked away from the employees, the woman tried to toss two items from her purse, according to police. The woman was charged with 6th-degree larceny. Police said the value of the bustier and tube top was $61.
