Car Stolen in Greenwich Is Recovered After Crash ... In NY State

A lesson learned? Don't leave your car unattended and running.

Greenwich Police say a car parked at Miller Motor Cars was stolen this week ... and recovered after it was involved in a single-car crash in New York.

According to Capt. Robert Berry, a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta station wagon was reported stolen about 8:15 p.m. Feb. 4 by a person who stopped by the Ferrari dealership, at 342 W. Putnam Ave. The operator of the car apparently left the "vehicle running and unattended."

The Jetta vehicle was involved in crash on the Palisades Parkway near Haverstraw, NY. According to Berry, the unidentified operator of the stolen Jetta was transported to an unspecified hospital in the area.

"Our investigation with the New York State Police is continuing," Berry said.
