Car Theft Suspect Nabbed

Greenwich PD: Suspect tried to heist car from hospital valet parking lot.

Just before midnight Saturday, two men were seen trying to steal a car parked in the valet parking area outside the Greenwich Hospital emergency room.

Before Greenwich Police arrived at the 5 Perryridge Rd. hospital, the pair apparently fled on foot, with hospital security chasing them. One of the suspects was caught a few blocks away on East Putnam Avenue near Sherwood Place.

Based upon hospital security video of a suspect entering a white Mitsubishi and trying to drive away, and two witnesses' accounts, police arrested Christopher P. Shakespeare, 40, who gave an address of 9211 Avalon Gates, Trumbull, on a second-degree larceny charge.
