Car Vandals Target Pemberwick Neighborhood of Greenwich

Residents of the Pemberwick section of Greenwich, on the western end of town, have been the victims of vandals who have an apparent penchant for using car keys to inflict damage on parked cars.

According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray,  there have been about eight incidents of cars being scratched with car keys and tires being slashed and car windows smashed since May.

“There have been several incidents along Pemberwick Road, from Route 1 (West Putnam Avenue) to Moshier Street,” Gray said.

The vandals usually strike overnight with the victims discovering the damage the next day as was the case in the latest case reported July 28. The vandalism appears to be random—“non-targeted individuals who parked their motor vehicles,” Gray said. In most instances, the scratches run the length of the car, Gray said.

“We’re asking residents to be extra vigilant and if anyone sees anything please call us at 203 622-8001,” Gray said.
