Collision in Front of Greenwich Town Hall Injures Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist was injured when the cycle he driving on Field Point Road collided with a car turning into the Greenwich Town Hall parking garage driveway Thursday morning, according to Greenwich Police.

Traffic Section Sgt. John Slusarz said the motorcyclist was northbound when a car that was southbound made the left turn into the parking garage driveway.

"The driver of the car turned in front of the motorcyclist who attempted to stop - he was not speeding - and collided with the right front of the car," Slusarz said. The crash occurred about 10 a.m. and prompted a temporary closure of the road while emergency personnel were on the scene.

The cyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries, Slusarz said. He was taken to Stamford Hospital by Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, according to Greenwich Deputy Fire Chief Tom Nixon. Firefighters cleaned up a small gas leak from the motorcycle, Nixon said.

The crash remains under investigation and the identities of the drivers were not immediately available, Slusarz said.
