Update: 10:07 a.m., May 27

The off-ramp of southbound Exit 2 of I-95 remained closed after 10 a.m. Tuesday, hours after a tractor-trailer reportedly took down a light pole and utility wires.

Greenwich Police ordered the offending truck towed from the scene and a driver was reportedly taken into police custody.

Original story: 8:03 a.m. May 27
The southbound Exit 2 off-ramp of I-95 in Greenwich is closed to traffic because of a crash and downed power pole in the area, according to radio reports.

At about 7:50 a.m., Greenwich Fire dispatchers and fire police at the scene reported a pole in the area of Louden Street, at the end of the ramp, has snapped at the base. Connecticut Light & Power crews were reported at the scene at 7:55 a.m.

Connecticut State Police have patrol cars parked at the end of the ramp to prohibit traffic from exiting and fire police have requested barricades be brought to the scene by the Greenwich Department of Public Works.

The closure also is expected to impact school bus traffic in the area of Louden and Hartford Avenue.
