Crossing the Line - 3 times, Leads to DWI Arrest

A motorist who Greenwich Police said was seen crossing the travel lane lines three times while driving along East Putnam Avenue early Sunday was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.

Daniel Gorgonio-Cardenas, 23, of 29 Riverdale Ave., Port Chester, NY, was stopped by police on East Putnam Avenue, near Indian Field Road, about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. According to the police report, the officer could smell alcohol when he approached the car and Gogonio-Cardenas admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages before driving. He also was reported to have failed field sobriety tests.

In addition to driving while intoxicated, he was ticketed for failure to drive in an established lane. He was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear July 25 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police investigating a verbal dispute in a private residence on Havemeyer Place Monday afternoon, ended up arresting a 20-year-old Stamford woman on a failure to appear in court charge.

According to a police report, officers didn't find any violations regarding the argument but found there was an arrest warrant for Keandra Tiffany Ruffin, 71 Ludlow St., Stamford, on a 2nd-degree failure to appear in court charge. Details on the charge were not available.

Ruffin was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear July 18 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A landscaper was ticketed by Greenwich Police in connection with violating the town's leaf blower ordinance Monday morning.

According to police, ticket was issued to Juan Manuel Bautista Aguilar, 33, of 43 Sand St., Port Chester, NY, at about 9:40 a.m. Monday. Police said there was a landscaping crew using leafblowers at the Bank of America office, 240 Greenwich Ave.

He was assigned a July 29 court date. The ticket carries a $53 fine.

Greenwich Police are investigating the shooting of a BB-gun on Louden Street, in the Byram section of town, which damaged the rear sliding glass doors of a home.

The resident, who was at home, reported the shots fired into the doors about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. The extent of the damage was not available, and the resident was uninjured, police said.
