Denied Entry, Man Is Accused of Breaking Into Home


An Old Greenwich man is facing criminal trespass and mischief charges following a Nov. 24 incident during which there was an apparent illegal entry to an Old Greenwich home.

Leo J.. Russell, 21, is accused of banging on the door of a Park Avenue residence in the Old Greenwich neighborhood about 7:50 a.m. Nov. 24, according to a Greenwich Police report. Russell is accused of breaking a basement door window, unlocking the door and entering the house after the homeowner wouldn't let him in, according to the report.

The homeowner told police he saw Russell leave in a taxi and a short time later police found him inside a Greenwich Taxi on East Putnam Avenue, according to the report. 

Russell was charged with second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting a $500 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
