Drinking While Driving in Greenwich = A DWI Charge


A motorist who Greenwich Police say was speeding and didn't use a turn signal when he changed lanes while driving on West Putnam Avenue early Saturday, faces numerous charges including driving while drinking.

According to police, Roberto A. Morelabad, 37, of 235 S. Regent St., Port Chester, NY, was stopped by police at 3:35 a.m. Dec. 7 after officers witnessed the moving violations. Morelabad is accused of having red, glassy eyes, an alcohol smell on his breath and failing field sobriety tests. He also is accused of drinking a Heineken beer in his vehicle, according to Lt. Robert Berry.

Morelabad was charged with driving while intoxicated, drinking while driving, failure to signal and traveling unreasonably fast. He posted a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
