Driver Cited for I-95 Police Chase

Stamford man accused of speeding at 110 mph.

Greenwich Police say they arrested a motorist who lead an officer on a chase on I-95 early Friday which reached "speeds of 110+ mph."

Wil Hasin Zavala, 22, who gave an address of 32 Weed Hill Ave., Stamford, was seen driving at 58 mph in a 25 mph zone on Delavan Avenue at 12:41 a.m. Feb. 24. The officer attempted to make Zavala pull over but instead, Zavala turned onto the sounthbound entrance ramp of I-95 at Exit 2, according to a Greenwich Police report.

The officer pursued Zavala for 1.1 miles who was described as making several "unsignaled lane changes ... weaving in tractor-trailer traffic at speeds of 110+mph." The officer stopped the chase at the New York State lines and through investigation identified Zavala who was charged with speeding, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving and failure to give signal.

He was released on a promise to appear March 9 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
