Driver Faces DWI Charge After Car Crashes into Pole


A driver is facing a driving while intoxicated charge following a New Year's Eve crash in central Greenwich.

According to a Greenwich Police report, officers found a car with heavy front-end damage after it struck a utility pole at the intersection of East Putnam Avenue and Hillside Road about 3:50 a.m. Dec. 31.

The driver, identified as Ashley Gullotta, 28, of 25 Indian Field Rd., Greenwich, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive in the proper lane. Gullotta is accused of having watery, bloodshot eyes, erratic behavior and having failed field sobriety tests.

She was released on a written promise to appear Jan. 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
