Driver Faces DWI Charge Following Crash in Greenwich


A motorist is facing a driving while intoxicated charge following a crash on Ritch Avenue West in the Byram neighborhood of Greenwich.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the driver had an odor of alcohol, slow, slurred speech and red glassy eyes when officers arrived on the scene of the crash about 10:30 p.m. June 12.

Gordon T. Elam, 44, of Stamford, reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated and following too close.

The report did not include details of the crash.

Elam was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear June 26 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
