Dropped Cellphone Leads to Suspect in Taxi Fare-Beating

Port Chester woman charged with larceny.

A 20-year-old Port Chester, NY woman has been arrested on a sixth-degree larceny charge stemming from a December incident in which a cabbie reported he was beaten out of a $30 fare.

According to Greenwich Police, investigators were able to identify the suspect with a cellphone that was dropped and left inside the unidentified taxi on Dec. 13. Police did not identify the taxi company.

Police said they obtained an arrest warrant charging Stephanie R. Zea, who gave an address of 79 Elmont Ave., Port Chester, with sixth-degree larceny. She was charged Feb. 3 and released after posting a $100 bond. She is scheduled to appear Feb. 10 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
