Drug-related Charges Dominate Arrests

A man who Greenwich Police said was speeding on West Putnam Avenue early Wednesday ended up being arrested on drunken driving and drug-related charges.

According to a Greenwich Police report, David P. Schneider, 39, 242 Locust n., Irvington, NY, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. on West Putnam and Western Junior Highway, after police said they placed him at 55 mph in a 35 mph zone.  In their report, officers said the smell of marijuana was coming from the car. A search of the car yielded a camera film container filled with a green leafy substance, a one-hit “bat” and a pipe.

Schneider was charged with traveling too fast, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana under four ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $250 bond and scheduled to appear June 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich man was arrested on a violatlion of protection order after Greenwich Police found him hiding in his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom.

Police were summoned to the Pemberwick area home by the parents of the woman who discovered the suspect forced his way through a window, into the ex-girlfriend’s room. The woman had obtained a protective order that prohibited the man from contacting her.

Police said that they searched the car of Daniel F. Gomez, 26, of 10 W. William St., and found clear plastic bags containing a powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. He was charged with violation of a protective order and possession of narcotics. He was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear Thursday in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich man who Greenwich Police said they stopped because of a cell-phone violation, ended up being arrested on drug-related charges.

Joseph R. McGovern, 29, who gave an address of 35 Circle Dr., was arrested about 3 p.m., May 17 in the 100 block of the Post Road. A police search of his car after police smelled marijuana, yielded a small amount of marijuana. He was charged with possession of marijuana, less than 4 ounces, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a promise to appear May 24 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
