Drunk Driving Charges for Motorist Driving Too Slowly, Shoplifting on Greenwich Ave.

A woman driving on Hamilton Avenue, who Greenwich Police said was driving too slowly and crossing the double yellow traffic lines, was arrested early Friday on a drunken driving charge.

Leslie M. Nelson, 48, of 14 Lucy St., Greenwich, was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. According to a police report, Nelson had glassy, bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol and had a plastic cup containing wine in her car. She also failed a field sobriety test, according to the report.

She also was charged with failure to drive right. She was released on a $260 bond and scheduled to appear May 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Weaver Street woman has been arrested on a larceny charge stemming from the shoplifting of more than $1,600 worth of clothes from a Greenwich Avenue shop early Thursday afternoon.

According to a Greenwich Police report, employees of the LF store, 310 Greenwich Ave., reported two women stole $1,628 worth of clothing. One woman ran from the store, the other drove away in a car. Employees were able to give the license plate number to police.

Police traced the plate and contacted the owner who surrendered at police headquarters.

Rosana Catano, 53, of 10 Weaver St., was charged with 4th-degree larceny and 3rd-degree assault. Police said the LF store manager was assaulted when she chased the women from the store.

Catano was released after posting $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear May 5 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A 17-year-old late Thursday on a disorderly conduct charge stemming from a pushing match with another teen.

No injuries were reported in the incident that involved a previous disagreement between the pair. The teen was  released on a promise to appear May 6 in the Juvenile Matter Division of state Superior Court in Stamford.
