DWI Arrests; Thefts Investigated by Greenwich Police

Greenwich Police investigating a two-car crash late Saturday at the intersection of Havemeyer Lane and Palmer’s Hill Road, arrested one driver on a driving while intoxicated charge.

According to a police report, the driver, identified as Carolina Serna, 29, of 1400 Bedford St., Stamford, grabbed an officer’s arm, had trouble keeping her balance, had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

Neither Serna nor the other driver, who was not identified was injured.

Serna, who also was ticketed for following too close, was released after posting $250 bond and was scheduled to appear July 18 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A driver, who Greenwich Police said was speeding in a minivan with dark tinted windows, ended up being arrested for driving while intoxicated shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.

The driver, identified as Raul Pinedo, 43, of 77 Severance Dr., Stamford, was arrested on the Exit 2 on-ramp of I-95. According to a Greenwich Police report, Pinedo smelled of alcohol, had watery, bloodshot eyes, spoke slowly, and failed field sobriety tests. In addition to the driving while intoxicated charge, Pinedo was ticketed for traveling too fast and having tinted windows.

He was released after posting a $250 bond and scheduled to appear July 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police investigating a report there was a group of drunk men with baseball bats in an argument with a group of youths on Weaver Street early Sunday resulted in the arrest of one man on weapons possession charges.

According to Greenwich Police, officers found the suspect had an air pistol that looked like a real weapon; a ball peen hammer in his waistband and a folding knife. James A. Clifford, 18, of 56 Weaver St., was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana less than 4 ounces. He was released aftger posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear July 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police are investigating the burglary of a Twin Lakes Lane home and the theft of a handgun.

According to Greenwich Police, someone forcibly removed wood panels from the front door to gain entry sometime between June 29 and June 30 when the homeowner returned to find the house ransacked.  The resident could not provide details of the gun to police.

Greenwich Police are investigating the thefts of GPS devices in two separate incidents over the weekend.

Sometime between 1 a.m. and noon Sunday, someone smashed a passenger window of a car parked in the Armstrong Court apartment complex on Hamilton Avenue before fleeing with the GPS.

The second incident was reported about 4 p.m. Monday by someone who parked their car on Ridge Street. Police said a GPS device and a wallet containing a small amount of cash and credit cards were stolen.

A man walked into the Ritz Camera shop on Greenwich Avenue Sunday afternoon and stole a digital camera, a lens and camera bag.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned man, in his 30s, more than 6-feet tall, wearing a T-shirt and baseball cap. The camera and lens – reported stolen shortly after 4 p.m. - were valued at about $1,200.

An argument between a couple lead to the arrest of a Sinawoy Road woman Monday on a disorderly conduct charge.

According to a police report, Greenwich Police arrested the 21-year-old woman who admitted to having a verbal argument and swinging a broomstick at her boyfriend. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and scheduled to appear Tuesday in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Riverside man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge by Greenwich Police who obtained an arrest warrant.

Connor Wasson, age not available, of 89 Summit Rd., also was charged with failure to drive right in connection with an Oct. 10, 2010 incident. According to a police report, Wasson surrenderd at police headquarters Friday afternoon. He was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear July 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
