Emotional Testimony in Greenwich Attempted Murder Trial

New details emerge in the case against Michael Parrotta, who is charged with first-degree assault and attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his wife multiple times April 2009.

There was emotional testimony in state Superior Court in Stamford today as the ex-wife of a Greenwich man accused of stabbing her with a sharpened screwdriver took the stand to testify against him, according to a report in the CT Post.

Michael Parrotta of 26 Byram Terrace is charged with first-degree assault and attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his ex-wife multiple times April 2009. The incident reportedly happened after the ex-wife arrived at Parotta’s home to pick up the couple’s autistic son.

During the trial, new details have emerged — for example Parrotta's wife reportedly said she had a loaded .357 handgun with her when the attack occurred, however she did not use it. The gun was reportedly kept in a secret compartment of her purse, which was on the back seat of the car when she was stabbed.

The ex-wife’s testimony also included a grueling account of how her husband allegedly repeatedly stabbed her with the screwdriver, which had been sharpened to a point, like an ice pick, as she sat buckled in the front seat of her vehicle. The couple’s autistic son was reportedly in the car at the time the stabbing occurred.

The proceedings also included testimony from the three Greenwich Police officers who arrived on the scene, one of them, officer William Paul, providing a description of the aftermath of the attack.
