Frustrated With Construction Noise, Greenwich Resident Takes Matter Into His Own Hands

The Greenwich resident is accused of firing a starter pistol at a construction site.


A man who reportedly told Greenwich Police who was frustrated with the noise emanating from a construction site next door to his Byram home, apparently took matters into his own hands.

According to a Greenwich Police, police went to a construction site at 183 Byram Shore Rd.  about 5:20 p.m. May 7 where a worker reported a neighbor aimed a handgun at the building and fire a total of three gunshots. The investigating officer heard a fourth shot while at the scene, according to the report.

The officer spoke with the neighbor, identified Robert C. Mock, 86, of 185 Byram Shore Rd., who reportedly said he was "frustrated with all the noises coming from the construction site" and wanted to retaliate by making his own noise. Mock used a starter pistol to fire the shots, according to the report.

He was charged illegal use of a firearm, second-degree breach of peace, threatening and second-degree reckless endangerment. He was released on a written promise to appear May 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
