Greenwich Burglaries Under Investigation

Greenwich Police say they are investigating the thefts of jewelry and electronics from 2 homes and a car.

 

Burglaries and reported thefts which netted thieves with several thousand dollars worth of jewelry and electronics are being investigated by Greenwich Police.

According to police, a witness reported seeing a man leaving a Strickland Road duplex around 1:30 p.m., March 14. Police found there was extensive damage to the front door which had been forced open, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. Jewelry, electronics and a computer all worth several thousand dollars were reported missing.

A Connecticut State Police canine unit was called in to help search for the suspect whom the witness said he saw leave the duplex, Gray said.

Police also are investigating the theft of several thousand dollars worth of jewelry from a West Brother Drive home. The jewelry was reported mising at 10:30 a.m. March 16 by a caretaker of the residence, Gray said. There weren't any signs of forced entry.

Police investigating a burglar alarm found it was triggered by an attempted burglary of a MacArthur Drive home in Old Greenwich. The alarm was sounded about 7:10 p.m March 16. Police found that someone unsuccessfuly tried to force open a rear door of the home.

The owner of a car parked in the driveway of a Tomac Avenue home in Old Greenwich found someone stole a GPS unit from their car shortly after 8 a.m. March 17. Police said the car was left unlocked in the driveway and that a second car in the drive that had valuables stowed inside, was left untouched—because it was locked.
