Greenwich Cops: Man Strangles Girlfriend


A man from Mount Vernon, NY was arrested on several charges including strangulation following an incident with his girlfriend in Greenwich, according to Greenwich Police.

According to a police report, Gabriel E. Ramos, 25, of 34 Kenyon Pl., Mount Vernon, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, interfering with a 911 call, third-degree assault, threatening and third-degree strangulation. 

Ramos was picked after patrol officers found his girlfriend walking near Railroad Avenue "distressed" and told them "her boyfriend tried to stab her," according to the report. Ramos was found by police at the Greenwich train station about 1:45 a.m. July 6. An investigation revealed he "kicked her, tore a tank top, threatened her with a knife and strangled her," according to the report.

Ramos was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear July 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
