Greenwich Driver Faces DWI Charge After Driving Towards Cop Car


A Greenwich resident faces multiple motor vehicle charges including driving while intoxicated after he reportedly drove the wrong way on Hamilton Avenue, headed towards a Greenwich Police car.

According to a police report, Alain H. Itouchene, 55, of Hamilton Avenue, was arrested following the 12:45 a.m. incident on Nov. 1. Itouchene was seen "driving on the wrong side of the road, coming head on at me in my patrol vehicle, according to a report by Officer James Ruszkowski.

Itouchene reportedly could not produce the vehicle registration or proof of insurance and had an odor of alcohol in the vehicle. He told police he had two glasses of wine, and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

Itouchene was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to carry insurance identification, failure to drive in proper lane and failing to signal. His bond was set at $250 and he was scheduled to appear Nov. 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
