Greenwich Driver Faces DWI Charge

A motorist faces a driving while intoxicated charge after he was seen by Greenwich Police making several motor vehicle violations as he drove Sunday evening.

According to a police report, police received a report from a motorist that they were following a car whose driver may have been intoxicated. An officer found the gray Volvo station wagon turning around in an Edgewood Avenue driveway and followed that motorist for three-quarters of a mile and "observed motor vehicle violations," according to the report.

The driver, identified as Theodore Strathdee, 53, of 74 Summit Rd., Greenwich, had an odor of alcohol and "had a bit of difficulty conversing with" police, according to the report. Strathdee reportedly failed field sobriety tests. He was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two counts of failure to use turn signal.

Strathdee posted a $250 bond and was given an Oct. 21 date to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
