Greenwich Driver Stopped for Motor Vehicle Violation Faces DWI Arrest

A driver stopped by Greenwich Police for a traffic violation is facing drunk driving and drug-related charges.

The female driver was stopped on Ridge Street around 8:40 p.m. June 13 and when an officer spoke with her, he noticed her speech was slurred, her eyes were glassy and there was an odor of alcohol coming from her vehicle, according to a police report.

The driver, identified as Berkley Jameson O'Connell, 33, of 21 Locust St., Greenwich, reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated, improper signal and no headlamps.

According to the report, police also found marijuana and pills identified as controlled narcotics. O'Connell also was charged with possession of narcotics, illegal storage of narcotics, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She posted a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear June 26 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
