Greenwich HS Grad Is Identified As Crash Victim

A 2012 Greenwich High School graduate who was the school's hockey team goalie, was killed in an early Saturday morning car crash on Riversville Road.

Greenwich police identified Vincent Scorese, 19, of 17 Fletcher Ave., Greenwich, as the driver of the car that slammed into a stone wall in front of 343 Riversville Rd. at 1:30 a.m. July 20.

Scorese was southbound in an Audi sedan and for an undetermined reason swerved off the road and struck the wall on the northbound side of the road. The crash occurred just south of the Seton Reservation where Greenwich Emergency Medical Service has a substation.

A memorial of flowers and a pair of hockey sticks marked the accident scene Monday afternoon. A portion of the approximately four-foot high wall is broken.

Accompanying his yearbook senior photo, Scorese quoted hockey great Wayne Gretsky, "you miss 100 percent of the shots you never take." He added, "Thanks Mom for supporting me through my high school career."

The crash remains under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to call police Traffic Technician Roger Drenth at 203 622-8014.
