Greenwich Man Faces DWI Charge After Port Chester Crash

Police: Driver slammed into parked car.

 

A Greenwich man is charged with drunken driving after slamming his car into a parked car on Willett Avenue in Port Chester, according to Port Chester police.

Julio Sanchez, 25, of 5 Beech St., Greenwich, was arrested after a Port Chester police officer discovered a Volkswagen Beetle stopped sideways on Willett Avenue, with heavy damage and blocking the street at about 4 a.m. Sept. 15. Police said they also discovered another car with heavy damage that had been pushed up onto the sidewalk.

Police said Sanchez was questioned about the accident, and he told police his "car slipped." During questioning, police said Sanchez appeared intoxicated. He was not injured in the crash that pushed a parked Toyota Camry up on the sidewalk.

Sanchez was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in Port Chester Village Court with bail set at $250. He faces a Village Court hearing on Sept. 21.
