Greenwich Motorist Faces DWI Charge

What caught the attention of Greenwich Police? The motorist's interior car lights were turned on while she was driving.

Driving with a car interior light turned on caught the attention of Greenwich Police who pulled over the driver after reportedly stopping for a red light in the middle of a Byram intersection.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the driver also crossed a double yellow line on Delavan Avenue near Frontage Road about 9:30 p.m. May 1. And when the traffic signal turned red at the intersection, the driver "failed to obey the red light and subsequently stopped in the middle of the intersection disrupting the flow of traffic," according to the report.

The driver, identified as Elle Lola Chen, 44, of Holly Hill Lane, Greenwich, failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

Chen was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a traffic control signal and driving right hand lane. She was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear May 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
