Greenwich PD Charge 5 Holiday Drivers with DWI

One driver is accused of driving the wrong way on Greenwich Avenue.


Five drivers are facing a variety of charges including driving while intoxicated as Greenwich Police carried out their holiday drunk driving crackdown.

Here's a rundown of the arrests made between Dec. 20 and Dec. 23.

Rodolfo Cordero-Torres, 34, of 40 Cognewaugh Rd., Cos Cob, was arrested after he was seen by officers, driving the wrong way on the one-way Greenwich Avenue before making a u-turn and left turn off Greenwich Avenue from the far right lane, according to a police report. Cordero-Torres was charged with driving under the influence, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and unsafe movement, about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 20, after failing field sobriety tests. He posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Jan. 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

At about 4:15 a.m. Dec. 20, Greenwich Police stopped a driver who didn't lower the high beams of his car and then weave over the double yellow line on Delavan Avenue, according to a police report. Fabricio J. Fortuna, 37, o f 11 Burr St., Stamford, who reportedly had red, glassy eyes, an odor of alcohol, and failed field sobriety tests, was charged with driving under the influence, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance, failure to drive in proper lane, operating without a license and improper use of high beams. He was held in lieu of $250 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich man was arrested for driving under the influence after he reportedly crashed his car as he turned onto Arch Street at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 21, according to a police report. Yakov Pyetranker, 33, of 14 Idar Ct., Greenwich, is accused of driving his vehicle without the headlights on when he made a wide turn onto Arch Street and crashed into a car, according to the report. Pyetranker was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and failure to have lights illuminated, after he reportedly failed field sobriety tests. He posted a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear Jan. 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.   

Owen P. Davis, 22, of 73 Sherwood Pl., Greenwich, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Dec. 22 after police say they saw him run a red light and cross over the double yellow lines on West Putnam Avenue, according to a police report. Davis had trouble locating his car registration and license and failed field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to obey a traffic control signal. He posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Jan. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A driver who Greenwich Police said was observed swerving while driving on East Putnam Avenue near Hillside Road before running up on the curb twice is facing a driving under the influence charge, according to a police report. Kristian T. Thompsen, 44, of 7 Whitney Dr., Greenwich, reportedly had an odor of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Thompsen also was charged with failure to drive in proper lane. He posted a $190 bond and was scheduled to appear Jan. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
