Greenwich PD: Woman Faces Assault Charge

Police say the victim was in the street screaming for help.

A woman is facing third-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges following an incident where the victim reportedly was in the street "screaming for help and to call police," according to Greenwich Police.

According to a police report, several Greenwich officers responded to High Street and after interviewing several neighbors, determined "that a verbal argument had turned physical between the residents" and that the suspect "had assaulted the victim when he tried to leave the residence."

Greenwich Patch is not identifying the 59-year-old suspect in order to protect the identity of the victim. The victim received scratches and minor injuries in the incident, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

The suspect was released on a written promise to appear May 5 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
