Arrests: DUI, Child Abuse

A 49-year-old Clapboard Ridge Road man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge Monday evening.

According to Greenwich Police, Paul A. Minor, who gave an address of 81 Clapboard Ridge Road, was charged at 7:45 p.m. Monday after police, who were at Minor’s residence for an unspecified reason, said they saw Minor pull into the driveway of his home. Police said that while they questioned him about an unrelated car accident, they detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. Minor  failed three field sobriety tests, police said.

He was released on a $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Jan. 31 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Valley Road resident of Cos Cob was arrested on risk of injury to a minor and third-degree assault charges stemming from an incident involving the woman and her  son.

Police were called to the suspect’s home Friday afternoon by the state Department of Children and Family Services which was investigating a report of child abuse. According to a police report, officers found a young boy with cut above his right eye caused when he was struck with a piggy bank and with bruises and swelling on his back, an arm and shoulder.

Police said the 31-year-old woman told them she was under stress and that the child was deceptive. Following the woman’s arrest, the child was placed in the temporary custody of the state agency.

The woman posted $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Stamford.
