One driver was stopped for driving 61 mph on a local road, the other driver reportedly crashed his car while trying to make a turn.

Two drivers are facing driving while intoxicated charges following separate incidents in Greenwich.

According to a police report, a driver whose car was found "lodged in heavy foliage" at the intersection of Interlake and Taconic roads was charged with driving while intoxicated and making an improper turn. Police say the crash occurred about 12:40 a.m. June 20 when Max G. Standafer, 55, of 33 Rockwell Ave., Torrington, failed to properly negotiate a left turn from Taconic Road onto Interlaken.

Standafer is accused of having red, glassy eyes, an odor of alcohol, being unsteady on his feet before failing field sobriety tests, according to the report. He was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear July 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A driver who police say was clocked driving 61 mph in a 40 mph zone on North Street is facing multiple charges. Matthew R. Dziubina, 24, of 14 Snowberry Ln., Shelton, also is accused of having an odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes and failing field sobriety tests about 9:30 p.m. June 19.

Dziubina was charged with speeding, failure to maintain lane and driving while intoxicated. He was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear July 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
