Greenwich Police Charge Man with Assault, Violating Protection Order

The suspect is accused of violating an order of protection and assaulting the victim.


A 20-year-old man is facing charges he assaulted a Greenwich resident who had an order of protection, that was supposed to prevent the suspect from contacting the victim.

According to a Greenwich Police report, at about 11:45 p.m. May 28, officers responded to a report of an assault in a home on North Water Street, in the Byram neighborhood of town. Police found the victim who had a court order of protection against the suspect, identified as Gianfranco Romero.

Romero, 20, of 190 William St., Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, violation of a protection order and disorderly conduct. He was held in lieu of $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear July 1 in state Superior Court in Stamford, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

The report did not indicate whether the victim needed medical treatment for injuries.
