Greenwich Police Helped New Canaan Nab Burglary Suspects

Suspect is one of a pair police say were involved in as many as 90 home burglaries, from Greenwich to East Lyme.

New Canaan police have brought charges against one of two men they say could have been involved in as many as 90 burglaries across the state, including some in Greenwich. 

On May 4, New Canaan police charged Bernard McAllister, 40, of Lisbon, CT with three counts of second degree burglary, four counts of third degree burglary, four counts of first degree larceny, one count of second degree larceny and two counts of third degree larceny in connection with seven break-ins in New Canaan.

According to police, McAllister and his partner, Mark Missino, 43, of Waterford, CT, could be across the state, ranging from Greenwich to East Lyme.

New Canaan police said their case was helped by the , which provided cell tower records that helped lead them to the suspects. The pair was arrested in November 2010 by East Lyme police, after a search of a storage facility uncovered 10,000 stolen items. Police said the two men are professional poker players.

The New Canaan burglaries took place over two weekends in January and September last year. Police said the suspects took mostly jewelry and silver, with homeowners reporting losses of between $5,000 and $80,000.

McAllister is currently being held in the Macdougall-Walker Correctional Institution in South Suffield, CT. Bond for the New Canaan charges was set at $350,000.

New Canaan police have obtained an arrest warrant for Missino, and said an arrest is forthcoming.
