Greenwich Police Investigating Burglaries, Thefts


Greenwich Police are investigating a number of burglaries and thefts reported in recent days.

A burglar alarm alerted police to the burglary of an Indian Harbor Drive home shortly before 3 p.m. April 15, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray. Officers responding to the alarm found the door to a mudroom was forced open, Gray said.

"The house was gone through ... somebody entered the house and was looking for valuables. It doesn't appear as if anything of value was taken," Gray said.

A Rockwood Lane home was burglarized by someone who forced open a French door during the daytime on April 15, according to Gray.
"Nobody was home," Gray said. "The owner is still assessing the property loss ... the second floor was ransacked."
Gray added, "The private residence has a functioning alarm system but it was not turned on."

Police found a broken window on a rear door of a Riversville Road home about 6:20 p.m. April 12, according to police. Nothing was taken from the home in the 600 block of Riversville, police said.

Two bicycles and lawn equipment, all valued at about $1,000, were reported stolen from a Shore Road home in Old Greenwich about 8:40 a.m. April 14. The items were taken from an unlocked detached garage at the home,  police said.

A customer at Starbucks in Riverside reported her wallet had been stolen while shopping on April 13. She didn't realize the theft until she received notification from a credit card company that her card was used to make purchases in Stamford, Gray said.
