Greenwich Police Officer to be Promoted

Master Police Officer Ernest P. Mulhern will be promoted to sergeant.


The Greenwich Police Department has announced that Master Police Officer Ernest P. Mulhern will be promoted to the rank of sergeant next week.

Mulhern, who joined the department in 2004, will be sworn in by First Selectman and Police Commissioner Peter J. Tesei at 4 p.m Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Public Safety Complex.

Mulhern, who earned a sociology degree from the University of Connecticut, served in the Connecticut National Guard for four years and was commissioned as a lieutenant upon his graduation from UConn. He served as a platoon leader for the 82nd Airborne Division, and was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

He has served in several police department sections and has been a field training officer and a member of the Special Response Unit and Honor Guard.

The swearing-in ceremony is open to the public.
