Greenwich Resident Faces Burglary, Larceny Charges


Burglary and larceny charges have been lodged against a Cos Cob resident who Greenwich Police say was seen by a resident breaking into a car.

Robert M. Wolterstorff, 20, of 54 N. Old Stone Bridge Rd., Cos Cob, was arrested about 11 a.m. May 12 as he left his residence, according to Greenwich Police. Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said that Wolterstorff is accused of breaking into a car parked at a Carriage Road residence on April 17.

An iPod touch pad, an iPhone, and a bicycle were stolen, according to Gray.

The homeowner and owner of the car, told police he recognized Wolterstorff entering the unlocked car about 1 a.m. April 17. "Through forensic evidence ... fingerprints and witness accounts we identified" Wolterstorff as the suspect, Gray said.

Wolterstorff was charged with third-degree burglary, criminal trespass, third-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny. He posted a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
